Cover Reveal - Closed Hearts by Susan Kaye Quinn

Today I have a very special reveal - the cover of Closed Hearts, the second book by Susan Kaye Quinn in the Mindjack Trilogy! Now I loved Open Minds - the first book in the trilogy (Read my review here!) so I'm super excited to see that Closed Hearts will be out soon - and even more so that I really love the cover!

Book Blogger Hop #9

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Jennifer at Crazy for Books  and is a place just for book bloggers and readers to connect and share our love of the written word!This week's question is -

"What is your favorite book cover?"

One of the things I love about the Book Blogger Hop is not only do I get the chance to explore and visit some fab blogs, but it also gets me thinking each week. And this week, I'm not sure how to answer! I love the British covers of Kelley Armstrong but the story helps me love the book so much I don't know if it's my absolutely favourite cover... 

 

Having explored my book case for a while, I think my favourite covers are the UK versions of Jim Butcher's Codex Alera. I started reading this series with the US covers, but I was so annoyed when they were finally published over here with beautiful covers, but I already had the US versions! So frustrating. Don't get me wrong, I was really happy with the US covers - there's nothing wrong with them at all, but I love the British version. It has such great colours and re-enforced the Roman theme with centurion elements plus the runes with various elements looks so cool. I want them!

The Changing Covers of Urban Fantasy

There's the whole adage of never judging a book by it's cover, but sometimes it's the cover that first attracts your attention. I know I've been suckered in purchasing books based on a good title, nice cover and an interesting blurb! So what is the typical fantasy cover? Well, Orbit may have the answer.

They have done a survey of the covers of Fantasy books released in 2010 and compared them to 2009 releases, including my particular favourite genre -  Urban Fantasy -Orbit UF Cover. It's pretty interesting to see how covers have changed in just a year - and I have to say (or write in this case!) I much prefer the typical 2010 cover - I never liked high-heels and short skirts on my heroines! Have a look and let me know what you think. What do you like on front covers?
