This is Books, Biscuits and Tea's Showcase Sunday where I share my lovely book hauls each week. Have a look back at Vicki's link up to see what everyone is up too!
This week I was a decent week as far as reading went. I finished His Dark Lady by Victoria Lamb - a fun historical adventure/romance, tore through The Farm by Emily McKay (love the story, slightly annoyed by the main character!) and Cinder by Marissa Meyer (what a fun retelling of the fairy tale!)
This week I was very good and didn't request anything on Netgalley and managed to avoid buying any new books this week! Yay me! Overall I had two books arrive and a pile of book related goodies so I figured that I'm one book ahead this week. :-)

Dead Harvest (The Collector #1) - Chris F Holm
Publisher: Angry Robot
Meet Sam Thornton. He collects souls.
Sam’s job is to collect the souls of the damned, and ensure they are dispatched to the appropriate destination. But when he’s sent to collect the soul of a young woman he believes to be innocent of the horrific crime that’s doomed her to Hell, he says something no Collector has ever said before.
“No."

The Wrong Goodbye (The Collector #2) - Chris F Holm
Publisher: Angry Robot
Meet Sam Thornton, Collector of Souls.
Because of his efforts to avert the Apocalypse, Sam Thornton has been given a second chance – provided he can stick to the straight-and-narrow.
Which sounds all well and good, but when the soul Sam’s sent to collect goes missing, Sam finds himself off the straight-and-narrow pretty quick

I won both of these books from the generous Qwillery and Angry Robot. I've heard some very positive things about this series so I'm looking forward to trying it out for myself!

As a thank you for kitten sitting last week, my friend brought me back a load of goodies from New York including a choose your own adventure book! I haven't seen one of these since I was a kid and have been having loads of fun playing with it...not sure if it's the sort of book I can review though...what do you think? To review or not to review...?
So what have you picked up this week...?
I love that book journal thingy and the one with the cats! So cute! :)
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of the covers..yeah. I am just like that ;)
ReplyDeleteAdventure books, that was always so much fun! I haven't heard of The collector series. I can't wait to hear your thoughts. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteHaul - Mel@thedailyprophecy.
Well done you for not buying any new books I'm very impressed Mel! I have the exact same book journal notepad it's a godsend for forgetful people like me who move onto the next book before writing a review it means I can go back and try to work out my notes.
ReplyDeleteI have that book journal! It is so handy, I love it :) Enjoy your books - happy reading!

Mel, I promise you will love The Collector series! :) I haven't read book two yet, but the first one was AWESOME! Also aha! You WERE annoyed with that silly girl! ;))) I feel happy now... Enjoy all your reads, darling!
ReplyDeleteI love The Collector covers and how they look like scruffy old SFF books. I bought one for a friend as a present... who I rarely see and therefore I have to try and resist nabbing it for myself before he visits!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard of that series, but it does sound interesting! Happy reading. :D
