My Book Haul / Showcase Sunday

This is Books, Biscuits and Tea's Showcase Sunday where I share my lovely book hauls each week. Have a look back at Vicki's link up to see what everyone is up too!

This I read a great anthology that you guys choose for me - The Inheritance by Robin Hobb & Megan Lindholm, sped through the short book/novella Doors by Daniel Brako and galloped through Stalking The Others by Jess Haines.

I honestly didn't think I was going anything to share with you all this week and then on Friday I won a giveaway and yesterday visited a charity book store where I picked up a couple of bargains!

Won

Meridian Six - Jaye Wells
Kindle Book
Meridian Six remembers the days before the Troika enslaved humans. She also remembers her mother, a freedom fighter murdered in the final battle between humans and vampires. But it is her mother's final words that have haunted her:
Red means life.
In the years since her mother's death, she has been used as both a propaganda tool and a blood slave by the Troika. She's withstood their indignities because the alternative meant bleeding out in a blood camp. But their abuses finally go too far, and she decides to run towards freedom and her mother's red light.
On the other side, she finds the Sisters of Crimson. They help her just as her mother promised, but they also hand her to the human rebels. The vampires used her famous name to keep human slaves biddable, but now the humans want to use it inspire a revolution.

When the world is at war, freedom is a luxury paid for with blood.

I won this over at Suzanne McLoed's blog. I adored Jaye Well's Sabina Kane series so I'm really looking forward to this novella!

The Salem Witch Society - K.N. Shields
Publisher: Little Brown

I have been circling this one for ages and when I spotted it for 10p, I couldn't resist!

Masquerade (Sevy #3) - Sarah Jane Lehoux
Kindle Book
Never trust a liar, especially when they're telling the truth...
Starting over isn't easy, especially when the world isn't ready for you to change. Sevy, thief turned assassin turned mercenary, isn't having any fun adjusting to a normal, law-abiding life. Luckily for her, an old partner in crime arrives with an irresistible proposition: a getaway to a tropical island, an adventure of a lifetime, and an amazing friendship ready to blossom into an even more amazing romance.
Things are looking up for Sevy. That is, until a pack of maniacal fairies with a taste for human flesh arrive on the scene. Now she must unravel a web of magical intrigue hidden behind the outwardly idyllic atmosphere of the islands of Belakarta.
Nothing is as it seems, and no one can be trusted. Trapped under the spell of a handsome and mysterious stranger, Sevy must fight fairies and tricksters to regain her freedom.
Or spend an eternity as a sorcerer's plaything.

Having given in and bought a couple of paperbacks I decided to balance it up with a kindle purchase. Sevy is a great character and I want to know what she gets up to next!

What have you picked up this week...?

  1. Meridian Six sounds awesome. :D
And I remember reading a ghost-type story years ago that was based around the Salem witch trials. It was a really cool book--very interesting. In Stratford-Upon-Avon, there's a museum based in the oldest building in the area, and they actually have a log of names of all the women there who were trialed for witchcraft. Horrible sensation were running down my spine in that section of the museum, the place is pretty creepy, but it was definitely worth the visit.

Hope you enjoy your books. :D
