In My Mailbox/ My Book Haul

The Story Siren hosts a weekly meme where bloggers can share what goodies they've purchased/received this week. If you get a chance head over to The Story Siren and check out what everyone is up to!

I've been investing in my kindle this week so the books I've picked up this week are all electronic versions from Amazon who have been having some great offers on free or reduced price books.

Hunted By The Others - Jess Haines
Kindle book
Shiarra Waynest's detective work was dangerous enough when her client base was strictly mortal. But ailing finances have forced her to accept a lucrative case that could save her firm--if it doesn't kill her first. Shiarra has signed on to work for a high-level mage to recover an ancient artifact owned by one of New York's most powerful vampires.
As soon as Shiarra meets sexy, mesmerizing vamp Alec Royce, she knows her assignment is even more complicated than she thought. With a clandestine anti-Other group trying to recruit her, and magi being eliminated, Shiarra needs back-up and enlists her ex-boyfriend--a werewolf whose non-furry form is disarmingly appealing--and a nerdy mage with surprising talents. But it may not be enough. In a city where the undead roam, magic rules, and even the Others aren't always what they seem, Shiarra has just become the secret weapon in a battle between good and evil--whether she likes it or not. . .
I've had this book on my wishlist for a while so when I heard Amazon were offering it for free last weekend I jumped at the chance to own it! That offers no longer on - it's such a matter of jumping when you see it! Plus it's an urban fantasy with sexy vampire love interest - how can I resist? :)

Mammoth Book of Vampire Romance - Trisha Telep
Kindle Book
Paranormal romance is a supernatural force to be reckoned with. Although packed with a menagerie of werewolves, shapeshifters and assorted demons, its undisputed king is none other than our favourite centuries-old bloodsucker - the vampire. We're now living in a post-Buffy world of dark urban fantasy a la Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake, Sherrilyn Kenyon's irresistible Dark Hunters and the blood-lusting soul mates of Christine Feehan. But it doesn't stop there. This Mammoth collection opens a vein to reveal the mind-boggling scope of the supercharged phenomenon created when vampires met romance.Let the biggest and brightest names in the paranormal romance business take you hot on the haemoglobin trail of the sexiest creatures of the night. Witness the bewildering array of complex vampire codes of conduct, dark ritual and dating practices, as they chat up the locals and engage in the most erotic encounters you will sink your teeth into this side of un-Death. These ain't your mother's vampires!

Another deal on Amazon which was offering kindle books for £1 each for 12 days. Short stories on the kindle will be interesting. And again vampires - I like! :)

Angelic - Kelley Armstrong
Kindle Book
As a half-demon master of the dark arts, Eve Levine isn’t what anyone would call angelic. That’s exactly why the Fates chose her for the job. She’s their secret weapon against the forces of evil. However after five years, Eve is tired of being the designated rebel of the angel corps, expected to break the rules, then penalized for it. When the leaderless djinn stage an uprising, Eve sees the perfect chance to get herself fired. As she plunges deeper into the demon world, though, she realizes she’s in danger of losing a lot more than her job.

I'm a HUGE fan of Kelley Armstrong's Otherworld series but haven't been able to get my hands on a copy and Angelic up to now as it was limited print run. However, having just released it as an ebook was fantastic for me with my new kindle! I adore Eve and think Haunted was one of the best in the series so far so catching up with her will be fun - even if it's just in a short novella format!

So what have you picked up this week? :)
