Throwback Thursday #11: Memoirs of Cleopatra

This is a great feature that Melissa at My World...in words and pictures has been doing for a while and I wanted to jump on board! There are plenty of books out there I desperately want...

But what about all those wonderful books that are ALREADY on my shelves?

This highlights a book I already have but just haven't got round to reading yet!

Memoirs of Cleopatra - Margaret George
The story of Cleopatra, Queen of the Nile. This saga of ambition, power and passion is told in the first person, from the queen's earliest memories of her father's tenuous rule to her own reign over one of the most glittering kingdoms in the world.

I'm a huge fan of Egypt and all the wonderful history - one of my favourite holidays was a week cruising down the Nile. So many moons ago I bought this book knowing I would love to become involved with Cleopatra, Mark Antony and Julius Caesar...but I haven't even started it yet! What's the problem I hear you all cry! Well, to be honest It's over 1000 pages long and I keep feeling that I need a month at least to read a book that big - and a weight lifter to carry it to and from the train for me...do I hear any volunteers? :)
But I WILL read it at some point...perhaps another trip down the Nile will inspire me...

  2. However, if it is engaging, 1000 pages doesn't seem that long... ;)
