What Shall I Read This June? + Giveaway

I realised the other day that I've been doing these Throwback Thursday posts inspired by Melissa at My World...in words and pictures for nearly year now - I have posted about over 50 books I own but I have hardly read any yet. So on the first Thursday of each month I will post a poll highlighting all the Throwback Thursday books I've highlighted in the last month plus one of the older Throwbacks and ask you to pick which book I should read. The most popular book after 5 days or so, will be picked up by me and actually read and (hopefully!) reviewed by the end of the month. However, in thanks I will also offer anyone who enters a copy of any book from my TBR Shelf. This way older books get a lot of love from both of us!

So to summarise -
- Pick a book you want me to read from my Throwback Thursday's posts and be in with a chance to win a book for yourself from my TBR pile for your own - check my TBR Shelf at the top for some other books that I need to get round to reading!
- I'll ship it out to from the Book Depository so it will be open internationally.
- Leave a comment for an extra entry telling my why I should read your choice!
- Open to followers only (Sorry, but I want to reward those who stop by regularly!). Also I'm not advertising or publicising this giveaway so it's just for those who read my blog regularly!)
- Poll closes midnight on Tuesday 12th June - I will try to announce the winning book and lucky follower, by next Thursday.

This month the books I need to give some serious love to are (you can go to the original posts to see what I said about them if you click on them!):

  1. I voted for The Desert Spear because I loved the first book in the series. I haven't read this one either, but it is on my list of books to read and I am sure it's going to be awesome! Enjoy reading the winner. ;)

  2. You should definitely read Divergent. It has this really cool dystopian Chicago landscape. I love Chicago though, so maybe I'm biased ;)

  3. Divergent, Divergent, Divergent! Totally awesome book, and I'm very soon to start the sequel. It is not right for me to be ahead of you in a series!

Divergent! Three things that will get you hooked: your life determined by one choice, a real, relatable romance, awesome characters you'll think about way after you finish the book!

  5. Grimspace is fast-paced and dark. Ann Aguirre raelly knows how to tell a compelling story.

  12. You should definitely read Grimspace - it's a totally fantastic start to an awesome series, and you need to get started or you'll never experience the awesome. My second recommendation would be The Better Part of Darkness, that is a really great book as well. But first read Grimspace. :D

  13. The Better Part of Darkness by Kelly Gay, it was and is still one of my favorite debut books by an author in the last several years. The series just gets better as it goes on. I love Ann Aguirre, however have not started her Sirantha Jax series yet but Grimspace would be my second choice to say read first. Not entering the giveaway Mel, just wanted to put in my 2 cents worth to slim your TBR down. LOL

  16. The Desert Spear, Mel! Only because I've read the other three ;) Divergent was very good, but had flaws, Kelly Gay was just as good, and Grimspace went into my DNF pile because I had huge problems with the writing style. So The Desert Spear it is.

  17. Mel! You have to read Divergent by Veronica Roth! It's a really excellent dystopian story with a dash of romance. There has been so much hype around the blogosphere with the release of book two in the series recently. Surely you HAVE to read it now just to see what all the fuss is about ;)

  18. Can't believe you haven't read Divergent! It's so unique, definitely read it!!!

  19. Definitely Divergent! And not because it's the only book on the list that I've read, but because it is simply A-MAZ-ING!!! Trust me, you WANT to become a new Four groupie :)
