On My Wishlist #69

This is a meme from Book Chick City. There are so many books out there that I want to read that this is the only way I can keep track! It's been a few weeks since I took part as Christmas and New Year got in the way, but there are plenty of great looking new Urban Fantasy books out there that I want to get my hands on!

Shadow Heir (Dark Swan 4) - Richelle Mead
Publisher: UK - Bantam (February 2012)
Shaman-for-hire Eugenie Markham strives to keep the mortal realm safe from trespassing entities. But as the Thorn Land's prophecy-haunted queen, there's no refuge for her and her soon-to-be-born-children when a mysterious blight begins to devastate the Otherworld...
The spell-driven source of the blight isn't the only challenge to Eugenie's instincts. Fairy king Dorian is sacrificing everything to help, but Eugenie can't trust the synergy drawing them back together. The uneasy truce between her and her shape shifter ex-lover Kiyo is endangered by secrets he can't--or won't--reveal. And as a formidable force rises to also threaten the human world, Eugenie must use her own cursed fate as a weapon--and risk the ultimate sacrifice...

While Eugenie isn't Georgina Kincaid or Rose Hathaway, she is a powerful and independent heroine and I enjoy following her adventures through the fae world. This is supposed to be the last book in Eugenie's story and I want to know how it all ends - especially with the prophecy regarding Eugenie's son.

Unclean Spirits (Black Sun's Daughter 1) - M.L.N. Hanover
Publisher: UK - Orbit
Jayné Heller thinks of herself as a realist, until she discovers reality isn't quite what she thought it was. When her uncle Eric is murdered, Jayné travels to Denver to settle his estate, only to learn that it's all hers -- and vaster than she ever imagined. And along with properties across the world and an inexhaustible fortune, Eric left her a legacy of a different kind: his unfinished business with a cabal of wizards known as the Invisible College.
Led by the ruthless Randolph Coin, the Invisible College harnesses demon spirits for their own ends of power and domination. Jayné finds it difficult to believe magic and demons can even exist, let alone be responsible for the death of her uncle. But Coin sees Eric's heir as a threat to be eliminated by any means -- magical or mundane -- so Jayné had better start believing in something to save her own life.

I know this series has been out in the US for a while but it has just been published in the UK. I've read quite a few positive reviews of this series and I do enjoy a heroine discovering her heritage and a supernatural world!

Blue-Blooded Vamp (Sabina Kane 5) - Jaye Wells
Publisher: UK - Orbit (June 2012)
Sabina Kane is on the hunt. Her prey: Cain, the father of the vampire race and the one who murdered her family and her friends. Unfortunately, Cain is hunting Sabina, too. The one man who holds the key to defeating Cain is, of course, Abel. A mage with secrets to spare and, hopefully, the power to match it. Unfortunately, for Sabina, he's in Rome and may not want to be found. Sabina sets out for Italy with her friends, Giguhl and Adam Lazarus, to track down the only man who can get her the revenge she hungers for. But will he help her or oppose her? And just who is Abel, really? Worst of all, when Sabina figures out the goddess Lilith has a plan for her-she realizes this trip is getting deadlier by the minute. As they say: when in Rome-SURVIVE

I love this series. I just finished reading the fourth book in the series - Silver-Tongued Devil and it ends with a very definite set up for the final book...I can't wait for the summer to see if Sabina survives!

What are you wishing for this week?

  4. I think I've had Unclean Spirits sitting on my shelf for ages, but the cover isn't half as nice as that one. I'm planning on this year actually reading what's on my shelf (well so I keep telling myself)

  5. Oh I have the first 3 swan series but haven't gotten to it. That next one looks so good. Oh and if you get to Unclean Spirits... I swear... Denver isn't that bad (although the streets and places are accurate! LOL).
